Info

Nikolas Klausmann was a guest researcher at RLI from January 2021 until December 2022 and also associated with the RLS graduate school.

As part of his PhD project at the Humboldt University of Berlin, he was looking at small new actors in the energy sector and their access to the electricity markets from a legal perspective. In doing so, he also made particular reference to current developments in European Law. He also looked at information technologies (e.g. DLT) from a legal perspective, which are intended to enable the market-side communication of such actors in a scalable and secure manner.

After studying law at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, Nikolas initially worked as a research assistant at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Berlin and at the Energy and Competition Law Institute of the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. At the same time, he led university working groups on public law and was a visiting researcher at Florence School of Regulation at the European University Institute . Since April 2020, he had been researching the legal framework for energy data platforms for the Environmental Energy Law Foundation (SUER) as part of the project "InDEED" in cooperation with Fraunhofer Blockchain Lab and Forschungsstelle für Energiewirtschaft e.V.
