18. May 2022Study on the use of hydrogen in the port of Baku at the Caspian Sea
With a study on hydrogen and green ammonia in ports, the RLI is working in this project on the topic of alternative fuels.
Project duration: December 2021 – February 2022
Exemplary study in the port of Baku on the Caspian See
With their project partners at the port of Baku in Azerbaijan this study introduces how hydrogen and green ammonia can be produced at used in the context of a port. Hydrogen in ports can be used, for example, for ships and logistics vehicles of the port (e.g. forklifts, trucks). Green ammonia finds its application not only as a future fuel, but also in the field of fertilizers. Various possibilities for hydrogen production and use in a regional context are considered.Project for international knowledge exchange
For this study the Reiner Lemoine Institute and Port of Baku are supported by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) within the project framework “Promoting Green Ports and Connectivity”. Through stakeholder engagement, technical assistance and realistic solutions for implementation, OSCE’s project promotes economic cooperation in the region. It aims to support stakeholders of international transport routes around the Caspian Sea in the challenges of digital, decarbonized and resilient trade.Project duration: December 2021 – February 2022
