Ciara Dunks had been working as a researcher in the Research Unit Mobility with Renewable Energy at RLI since March 2020. Previously, she had been an intern in the Unit for eight months. Ciara holds a master's degree in Renewable Energy from Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Groningen, Netherlands), where she studied within ther framework of the EUREC program. For her final thesis, she did research on “The development and validation of hydrogen concepts for the mobility and/or heat sectors through the use of SMOOTH – an open source framework”.

In context of her work for the project Hystarter, she is working on the simulation, optimization and analysis of an integrated hydrogen infrastructure for a chosen region in Germany.

Ciara also holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Manchester.
