Hydrogen project “H2VL” launched

Projekt H2VL

July 27th, 2022 | What hydrogen potential does the Havelland district have and how can various local players be linked? To answer these questions, the district commissioned the Reiner Lemoine Institute, Ingenieurgesellschaft Auto und Verkehr (IAV), Consulting4Drive (c4d) and the Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility (IKEM) to conduct a feasibility study. The “H2VL” project kicked off on Tuesday with a digital launch event.

“Hydrogen is a building block for a sustainable energy supply with renewable energies, which is becoming increasingly important. In order to establish a functioning hydrogen economy also in the Havelland district, it is important to know the potential and to network the different players with each other,” says District Administrator Roger Lewandowski. “I am therefore pleased that things are now really getting underway and that we are bundling the existing potential in our district with the various project partners in order to jointly demonstrate trend-setting perspectives on the subject of hydrogen.”

The aim of the project H2VL is to identify the various local players along the entire hydrogen value chain and to support them in implementing their projects – from generation to storage and distribution. To this end, for example, workshops are held on site. On Tuesday, the first item on the agenda was the presentation of the institutions involved in this process.

Havelland is one of the winning regions in the second phase of the HyLand competition of the German Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV). As a HyExpert region, the results of this study can become exemplary for other regions.

The development of the Havelland district as a hydrogen region within the framework of the National Innovation Program Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP2) is funded by the BMDV. The funding directive is coordinated by NOW GmbH and implemented by Project Management Jülich (PtJ).

The first workshops on hydrogen demand and generation will take place at the end of September. Stakeholders from Havelland who are interested in implementing local hydrogen projects can register for this on the KoopBB platform in the H2VL group or by emailing h2vl@rl-institut.de. The H2VL project is designed for one year.
