Tomiwa Aileru was an intern in the Research Unit Off-Grid Systems at RLI from May 2021 until September 2022. He was enrolled in the master's degree program Power Engineeering at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Tomiwa supported the team with research tasks in creating an open-source optimization tool for modeling and analysis of off-grid systems in Nigeria as part of the PeopleSUN project.

Tomiwa holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. His main interests were in renewable energy development in sub-Saharan Africa and Energy markets. Apart from his work at RLI, he also volunteered in the site development team of TU eMpower Africa to develop sustainable water-energy-food systems for rural communities in Africa.
