Development of mobility hubs for urban residential neighborhoods

Das Bild zeigt eine Darstellung mit Icons, in der MItte ist ein Wohnblock, auf der linken Seit ein Wegweiser zum ÖPNV und auf der rechten Seite ein Fahrrad-Symbol und ein elektrisches Auto.
Housing associations have an increasingly important role in the urban mobility revolution. They can set a decisive course for climate-friendly mobility by providing various mobility services and in infrastructure planning in existing and new neighborhoods. The Reiner Lemoine Institute (RLI) supports the urban housing company HOWOGE in developing neighborhood concepts for more sustainable mobility.

Mobility centers in the residential quarters

A mobility index for urban residential neighborhoods is being developed as a basis for these neighborhood concepts. The aim of this index is to bundle complex neighborhood structures in such a way that decisions on the development of mobility services can be simplified. Based on this, planning for the development of charging infrastructure as well as sharing offers and mobility hubs can be accelerated. This index is created with the help of socio-demographic and various mobility data.

RLI results serve as a template for further projects

The collected data and potentials are visualized in a clear and locally resolved manner and flow into a mobility map. In addition, the mobility index is used for the comparability of urban districts. In the future, the results will be a data-based foundation for complex decision-making processes in the development of charging infrastructure as well as mobility hubs in the housing industry. Project duration: September 2021 – September 2023

RLI assumes the following tasks in this project:

  • Advisory support for the development of urban mobility hubs
  • Development of data-based comparison criteria of neighborhoods
  • Creation of an interactive mobility map
