Hydrogen Potential in the Prignitz-Oberhavel Region: Complete Study Published
July 8th, 2022 | In order to achieve the agreed climate targets of the federal government as well as the state of Brandenburg and to reduce CO2 emissions, transport, heat and industry must be gradually converted to renewable energy. The use of hydrogen will also be an elementary component here.
The counties of Prignitz, Oberhavel and Ostprignitz-Ruppin are tackling this issue together and have commissioned a “Potential study and implementation concept for a regional hydrogen economy in the Prignitz-Oberhavel region”. From 01.03. to 30.06.2022 the Reiner Lemoine Institut (RLI) as well as the Rebel Deutschland GmbH worked on it. As of today, the entire study is public.
The result of the work is a reliable basis and a database for the energy region Prignitz-Oberhavel. Thus the potentials of the regional production from renewable energy (green hydrogen), the regional use as well as the chances of new regional creation of value chains are pointed out. At the same time, the study identified concrete projects for ramping up the hydrogen economy in the region and named relevant regional stakeholders. The results of the study were presented on June 26, 2022.
The project was supported by funding from the European Regional Development Fund and the state of Brandenburg from the “RENplus 2014 – 2020” funding program.
An overview as well as the complete potential study can be found on the websites of the districts of Prignitz, Ostprignitz-Ruppin and Oberhavel as well as the Regional Planning Community Prignitz-Oberhavel.
The identified potentials are to be used, concrete projects are to be supported and the further networking of relevant actors is to be promoted.
More information about the study is available on our project page.
