June 27, 2023 | Philipp Blechinger, head of the research unit Off-Grid Systems at RLI, is a fellow at Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) since last May. The Canadian-based institution is a center for research, education, and outreach on global governance and international public policy. It comprises a global network of scholars, students and practitioners. Its goal is to develop new solutions to critical problems facing humanity and to improve global governance.
As a Fellow, Philipp’s role is to publish policy papers together with other researchers, discuss new research approaches and results, and represent the RLI internationally.
“This international network enables me to discuss the energy transition and related challenges with exciting researchers around the world and to find appropriate solutions. I am very honored to have been accepted at BSIA.”
Philipp was accepted to BSIA on the recommendation of Jatin Nathwani. Nathwani is the founding director of the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE), which partners with the Balsillie School. Philipp came to his attention because of their joint research and work in the area of energy access.
