Comparison and optimization of centrally and decentrally oriented expansion paths to a power supply from renewable energies in Germany (Breyer, Müller, Möller et.al. 2013)

The study examines and evaluates various paths on the way to a power supply from 100% renewable energies (RE).

The focus is on the question of whether it makes economic sense to concentrate renewable energy generation capacities on those sites that have the lowest electricity generation costs and what advantages and disadvantages result from a decentralised distribution of renewable energy capacities. In addition to the electricity generation costs, municipal value creation is used as an economic criterion for the assessment.
