Surpluses from renewable energies as the basis for sustainable mobility concepts? (Arnhold 2011)
Oliver Arnhold
With the increasing spread of renewable energies (RE), it is increasingly not possible to exploit the entire energy yield of renewable energies. Using the example of the future renewable energy island of Graciosa, the use of renewable energy surpluses in the mobility sector was analysed. Battery-electric vehicles with different charging options and gas-powered vehicles based on renewably produced methane were compared with a conventional reference scenario.
The calculation results include the specific mobility costs, CO2 emissions and the demand for primary energy. The alternative vehicle concepts can benefit from regenerative surplus energy, taking into account certain boundary conditions.
