21. SDEWES Conference 2026

Gombodshaw Boß, researcher in the Research Unit Mobility with Renewable Energies, participates in the SDEWES conference. He will give a lecture entitled “Energy Scenarios for Inland Ports Using Open Data” as part of the ENETRA research project. The presentation will present an open data-based methodology for modelling and optimising energy systems in inland ports. Using the case study of Berlin’s Westhafen, various decarbonization scenarios are used to investigate how electrification and grid restrictions in particular affect energy demand, infrastructure requirements, investment costs and CO₂ emissions.

Another contribution comes from Tabea Katerbau, researcher in the Research Unit Mobility with Renewable Energies and scholarship holder at the Reiner Lemoine Kolleg. She will present her doctoral research. In the lecture “Distributional Impacts of Different Allocation Rules in Energy Sharing Communities”, she shows, among other things, the influence that different distribution rules in Energy Sharing can have on the individual member households of a heterogeneous Energy Sharing Community. This is shown on the basis of the resulting average electricity prices and financial leeway to cover fixed costs associated with energy sharing.

At the 21st edition of the conference, participants will discuss the promotion and dissemination of knowledge, methods, strategies and technologies to increase sustainability. Other topics include the decoupling of growth from the use of natural resources and the transition to a knowledge-based economy.
