oemof-B3
Energy system model for Berlin and Brandenburg
How does oemof-B3 help?
The oemof-B3 is an energy system model for the regions of Berlin and Brandenburg and comprises the sectors electricity, centralized and decentralized heat, hydrogen, CO2 and methane.
Who is the tool suitable for?
The tool is suitable for stakeholders such as scientists, energy planners and consulting companies who are interested in modelling and optimizing regional energy systems.
How does oemof-B3 work?
oemof-B3 is a multi-node model that enables several regions to be linked by transmission lines. It is a linear optimization model based on oemof.solph, oemof.tabular and oemoflex.
What examples of use are there?
oemof-B3 can be used to calculate regional energy planning scenarios. To adapt the energy system of Brandenburg and Berlin to specific needs, the components in the oemof_b3 subdirectory can be modified. Additionally, oemof_b3 can be modified to define energy systems for other countries, cities, or regions.
Extension of the tool
An extension of the tool is oemof-B3-methane. This is oemof-B3 extended by a methanation reactor as an additional component.
How can oemof-B3 be used?
The program code is written in the Python programming language and is freely available on GitHub online service under the MIT open source license. Instructions on how to run the scenarios with oemof-B3 are contained in the documentation. If the model is to be tried out or used for a specific project, the corresponding instructions and tools are available.
