Openmod-workshop
25. March 2025, Stockholm
Paula Preuß and Pierre-Francois Duc, researchers in the Off-Grid Systems and Transformation of Energy Systems research units, will represent RLI at the Open Energy Modeling Workshop in Stockholm.
Paula and Pierre-Francois will each give short lightning talks. On the one hand, they will talk about how the RLI implements the Open Science principle in research. Paula will present the topics and structures of various RLI projects. On the other hand, Pierre-Francois will present a paper from the RLI project People-SuN. He will give a detailed and exemplary account of how the project team determined standardized energy demand profiles for female consumers in Nigeria using a data-driven, open-source approach.
The focus of this year’s event is to strike a balance in the energy modeling community between the need to preserve disciplinary expertise while fostering collaboration between disciplines.
The Open Energy Modelling Initiative is a grassroots organization of modellers from various research institutes, universities and companies.
The openmod workshops provide a forum for researchers to discuss how to promote the use of open data and open software tools in the field of energy system modeling.
The topics range from the exchange of specific types of data, for example sources of open data on building stocks or distribution networks, to advocacy and public relations.
