Kathrin Goldammer appointed to Berlin Climate Protection Council
25th May 2022 | RLI Managing Director Kathrin Goldammer had been appointed as a member of the Berlin Climate Protection Council by Berlin Senate’s resolution on 29th March 2022. Bettina Jarasch who is Senator for Environment, Mobility, Consumer and Climate Protection in Berlin presented the new council members on 11th April, 2022 on the occasion of the constituent meeting. The council consists of 18 experts from science, business, associations and representatives of civil society. It will advise the Berlin Senate and the House of Representatives on issues of climate protection and energy policy.
“I am very pleased to be involved in the Climate Protection Council as a representative from the fields science of technology. Since 2010, at the Reiner Lemoine Institute, we have been conducting applied research for the goal of 100 percent renewable energy. With our experience in mobility and energy systems I would like to help strengthen Berlin’s policy on climate protection and support its implementation,” says Kathrin.
The Climate Protection Council will monitor compliance with Berlin’s climate protection goals, participate in strategies and measures in the field of climate protection and climate adaptation and develop its own proposals. The committee, chaired by Senator Jarasch, will work on important issues such as the heat and mobility transition, the challenges of a socially acceptable energy building renovation but also issues in the field of climate adaptation. The basis for the council’s establishment is a corresponding commitment by the Senate in the Berlin Energy Transition Act.
