Personal Information
Tabea Katerbau has been part of the “EnergieSystemWende” Graduate School of the Reiner Lemoine Foundation since January 2024. In her doctoral thesis she works on the contribution of energy communities to the energy system transition. The research focuses on the potential of energy communities to relieve the distribution grid, their economic efficiency and a socially just design. Since April 2022, Tabea Katerbau has been a researcher in the RLI Research Unit Mobility with Renewable Energy. She is mainly concerned with the grid integration of the e-mobility and concepts for decentralized power trading.
Tabea’s professional background includes stations in building services engineering, teaching and energy supply for neighborhoods. Among other things, she was involved in different research projects on building ventilation at the Hermann-Rietschel-Institut of the TU Berlin and in various studies on the energy transition in neighborhoods at the German Energy Agency.
Tabea holds a master’s degree in Renewable Energy Systems from TU Berlin. As part of her master’s thesis, she modeled various operating and positioning strategies of battery storage systems in low-voltage grids as a guest researcher at the Graduate School of the Reiner Lemoine Foundation. Tabea also received her bachelor’s degree in Energy and Process Engineering at TU Berlin. In her bachelor’s thesis she developed concepts for the integration of a thermochemical storage system in solar thermal power plants.
