Extensive vibration measurements of turbines with the company BerlinWind
Project description
Project period 01.10.2011 – 31.07.2013
The University of Applied Sciences operates vertical-.axis small wind turbines at different sites within Berlin, which were part of the the Projekt „Nutzung von kleinen Windkraftanlagen auf Gebäuden in städtischen Gebieten am Beispiel Berlins“. In accompanying projects with the Reiner Lemoine Institut and BerlinWind GmbH short-term measurment campaigns were conducted on the supporting structure of plants as well as the building structure Some virbration problems were identified according to the characteristic frequencies and the revolutional speed and could be reduced within the multi plane balancing by BerlinWind and by adapting theplant control.
Tasks
The vertical-axis small wind turbines have to operate for several years within the project mentioned above. To ensure the correct operation of the facilities, mass imbalance and possible self-oscillation problems should be identified and to be eliminated as far as possible. Therefore the support structure was modified as well as the plant control system based on WAGO. Finally, the operating characteristic was reassured to enssure that no extensive maintenance and repair work will be necassary during the opertion of the facilities.
