Future mobility trends at the airport BER
Project description
Project period: July – December 2019
In order to prepare Berlin Brandenburg Airport for the mobility requirements of passengers in the long term, future trends and technologies must be incorporated into infrastructure planning. In addition to electromobility, this also includes forms of mobility such as carsharing or autonomous driving. The Reiner Lemoine Institute (RLI) compiles and describes the mobility trends of the future.
Initially, the RLI will develop market ramp-up scenarios for electric mobility in the airport environment for a period up to 2040 in order to forecast market shares for the coming years. At the same time, the development of carsharing will also be examined. For this purpose, the RLI provides an overview of the current status quo as well as the objectives and plans of the various sharing providers of sharing services. These are placed in the context of current developments in the area of carsharing. In the course of digitisation, the networking of mobility is also becoming increasingly important. Carsharing services in particular are characterised by their simple usability in the form of an app. The RLI gives an overview of already implemented, multimodal offers and describes their suitability.
Currently, autonomous, driverless driving is still in the test phase. In order to assess the relevance for Berlin Brandenburg Airport, the RLI analyses relevant studies and compares their findings.
The result of the project will be the presentation of possible effects of future mobility trends on the airport region.
