100 percent renewable electricity in Berlin-Brandenburg – Simulation of power supply scenarios for the capital region (Müller et al. 2013)
Berit Müller, Caroline Möller, Markus Hlusiak, Jochen Twele
Events on energy self-sufficiency of municipalities are becoming more and more on the agenda, such as: At the beginning of March in Berlin, the “Green Lecture” of the Heinrich Böll Foundation with the founder of the Transition Town movement Rob Hopkins and the final conference of the research project “RE Regions: Social and Ecological Self-Sufficiency from Renewable Energies”.
Two questions are in the foreground: What technical potential does the region have for energy self-sufficiency and how can the energy transition be implemented together with the population? While the events are increasingly devoted to questions of the socio-economic transformation process, the question of the optimal technical system is far from being resolved.
