Population-based optimization methods for decision support in energy system design: Discussion of some approaches (Wanitschke et al. 2016)
Alexander Wanitschke, Stephen Bosch
Decision-making problems in energy system design are characterized by contradictory objectives and are often subject to great uncertainty. Classical systems for decision support in energy system design are sometimes deficient and often do not sufficiently respect the complexity of the real problem. Population-based methods can help to identify the basic relationships with a structured analysis of solution sets and thus prepare the complexity of the decision in a way that is understandable for the decision-maker.
