5th Philippine-German Energy Forum
In the framework of the „renewables – Made in Germany“ initiative of the BMWi the 5th Philippine-German Energy Forum was held in Cebu City organized by GIZ and the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce (GPCCI). The focus of the event was on the potential for off-grid and mini-grid systems in the Philippines. The event was attended by more than 90 participants from the energy sector, such as the department of energy, electric cooperatives, private electricity suppliers, network operators and businesses. In addition to keynote speeches of the Philippine hosts regarding the status quo, legal framework and current obstacles for the introduction of renewable energies, numerous German companies had the chance to present their products and solutions for the energy supply of isolated islands. Paul Bertheau participated as an expert for PV mini grids and represented the Institute with a presentation on „Planning of PV Hybrid Power Plants“. Ahead of the event a field trip to Pangan-An island was conducted for inspecting a PV-Diesel Mini-Grid.
