Catherina Cader at Myanmar Green Energy Summit
September 14th 2016 – Catherina Cader, researcher at the RLI, participated in the 2016 Myanmar Green Energy Summit in Yangon and represented RLI’s work in electrification planning. This two-day conference brings together stakeholders from Myanmar’s Energy Sector, private industry, researchers, international organizations and government representatives. The motto of this year’s conference was “Gearing Up the Green Energy Development: New Directions and Strategies”.
Catherina is researcher within the team Off-Grid Systems. In Myanmar, she presented on the “Practical Geospatial Planning Aspects for Transmission and Distribution Planning in Myanmar”.
The inclusion of spatial data and information was discussed as a very useful tool for visualizing currently installed energy infrastructures and use that as background for planning future electrification. With the recent political changes in this country, it will catch up in development, potentially building on its vast potential of renewable energies.
