Data publication from the market master data register of the Federal Network Agency
March 1st 2019 | One month after the official launch of the Market Master Data Register (MaStR), Reiner Lemoine Institut (RLI) publishes a first version of the master data for power generation plants in Germany. The register, managed by the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), contains the master data of market players, such as plant operators, grid operators, and energy suppliers for the German electricity and gas market.
A group of RLI researchers has developed an open-source software that downloads and merges data from MaStR. This makes it possible for the first time to use the entire data of the Federal Network Agency in one package for own energy system modelling projects. Currently, the power generation units for wind, water, and biomass are included. It is planned to include further technologies in the following versions as well as to carry out extensive data validations.
The work is carried out in a collaborative development process in context of the research project open_FRED. It can be accessed here on GitHub.
The dataset is available here on Zenodo as a data package (CSV files with extensive metadata).
We also offer services for the further development of the software as well as workshops for the application of download scripts. If you are interested, please send us an e-mail at: ludwig.huelk@rl-institut.de
