Online Seminar
Catherina Cader, head of the RLI Research Unit Off-Grid Systems, is representing the RLI at an online seminar as part of the Environmental Technology Export Initiative (EXI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conversation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). The seminar is on “Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology: Focus on Island Grids”. Catherina will speak about “Island grids in decentralized power supply – key issues for the use of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in island grids; expertise and existing tools by RLI”.
The National Organization Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NOW) is hosting the seminar to talk about the global importance of island grids for decentralized power supply and how to build them. Furthermore, the question will be discussed which potentials exist regarding the decarbonization of existing mini-grids as well as the further electrification with the help of the application of green hydrogen and fuel cell technologies for environment, economy, and local populations. The initiative was launched by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety in 2016. It aims to disseminate environmental technologies and, thu,s make a concrete contribution to sustainable development and better living conditions in other countries. The export initiative aims to contribute to supporting sustainable livelihoods (SDG implementation) in the target countries and to combine this with business benefits.
