The Oeko-Institut has prepared a study on the current state of electricity transmission system expansion in Germany commissioned by the Renewables Grid Initiative. In the study, a number of existing studies on the issue of transmission system expansion are showcased and compared in order to provide an overview of which assumptions yield which results in the studies analyzed, how terms are defined, which conclusions can be considered as established and secure findings, and what information is still needed in order to lead a well-founded discussion.

The study will be publicly presented on March 13th in connection with a panel discussion entitled “Decentralization, regionalization and grids”. RLI Managing Director Kathrin Goldammer will participate in the discussion on various transmission system expansion scenarios together with other guests including Stephanie Ropenus (Agora Energiewende), Olivier Feix (50 Hertz), Paul-Georg Garmer (TenneT), and Christoph Bals (Germanwatch).

Further information on the event and registration is available here.
