Philipp Blechinger accepted as member of the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities
July 17th, 2018 – Philipp Blechinger , Head of the Research Field Off-Grid Systems at RLI was accepted as a member of the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA). The AGYA is a cooperation existing since 2013 between the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain. It is the world’s first bilateral Young Academy and is supported mainly by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Qatar Foundation. The AGYA promotes cooperation between Arab and German young researchers of all research disciplines three to ten years after receiving their PhD and promotes innovative interdisciplinary projects.
“Renewable energy is currently a very prominent topic for Arab countries, as they have the best conditions for the construction of, for example, solar power plants,” explains Philipp. “In the field of Off-Grid Systems, we would like to expand our focus to these countries in the future and we are aiming for research projects in the region. I am honored to be a member of AGYA.”
