Fleema

Fleema – Flexible Fleet Energy Management

How does Fleema help?

The Fleema software was developed by scientists at the RLI and assists in the evaluation and analysis of electric vehicle fleets in terms of their flexibility and emissions. Fleema provides a detailed assessment of the energy flows, emission values, and costs associated with different types of fleets and their operations.

Who is the tool suitable for?

Fleema is suitable for fleet operators who are interested in a detailed analysis of flexible fleets and their potential for savings in driving electricity.

How does Fleema work?

Fleema first maps the environment in which the fleet is deployed (charging stations, routes, vehicle parameters, cost and feed-in time series). Based on a schedule, possible times for interim charging are then determined and compared. The criteria for comparison include costs, emissions, and the efficiency of the resulting schedule and use of local energy generation. The result is an optimized schedule, including calculated charging times and needs, as well as an evaluation based on the comparison criteria.

What examples of use are there?

Fleema was used in the ADVANTAGE project to analyze autonomous shuttle services and assess their grid compatibility and costs.

Additionally, the tool was utilized in the paper “Impacts of inductive charging on 24h on-demand operation of shared autonomous electric vehicle fleets” to analyze the potential of autonomous fleets.

How can Fleema be used?

The program code is written in the Python programming language and is freely available under the MIT open-source license on the online service GitHub.
