May 7th – 10th | Abuja, Nigeria

Gregory Ireland, researcher in the unit Off-Grid Systems, will be attending the Open Source in Energy Access Symposium (OSEAS) and taking on various tasks:

  • In the session “Open Source Geospatial Solutions” Gregory will present the tool offgridplanner.org
  • he will moderate a panel discussion entitled “The Role of Academia in Scaling the Impact of Open Source Solutions”,
  • gives a presentation in a breakout session on data management, governance, security and open data standards for energy access projects
  • and participates in the idea session “Collaboration Roadmap for Open Source Geospatial Solutions in the Energy Access Space”.

The first Open Source in Energy Access Symposium will serve as a hub that emphasises transparency, innovation, interoperability and collaboration. Open source technologies and tools have been an integral part of the energy access landscape for some time – but it is only recently that practitioners and organisations have begun to demonstrate their benefits.

The event is aimed at academics, researchers, entrepreneurs and companies in the clean energy sector, NGOs, civil society, decentralised renewable energy companies, donors, global policy makers, government agencies, open source enthusiasts, members of the open source community, technology innovators and other interested parties.
