June 16 | Munich
Philipp Blechinger, Head of Off-Grid Systems at RLI, will moderate the session “Off-Grid: Decentralized Water-Energy-Food Nexus” at the Intersolar Europe conference.
He will also present results from the project “EnDev Digitalization for scale – consulting services in the field of energy access through digitalization”. In this project, RLI scientists are working to identify digital solutions that support stronger market development of energy access products and services. Philipp talks about the ecosystem of digital applications to improve energy access, specifically the categorization of tools, the evaluation of tools and best practices as well as opportunities and risks.
In addition, Julian Fleischmann, project manager in the Off-Grid Systems research area at RLI, will give a presentation on the project “OPTiMG – Optimization of Integrated Mini-Grids for Water-Energy-Food in Africa”. In this project, an international consortium led by RLI is developing digital tools for planning and optimizing integrated mini-grids. They are intended to support a sustainable water, energy and food supply in various African countries. Julian focuses on the presentation of the water-energy-food planning tool.
As the world’s leading trade fair for the solar industry, Intersolar Europe reflects the enormous market dynamics of the solar sector. As part of the Intersolar Europe Conference 2024, speakers highlighted the experiences, innovations and future prospects of off-grid systems in four special off-grid sessions. In 2023, there was an additional off-grid opening session.
This year, projects around the water-energy-food nexus will be presented and the importance of digitalization for accelerating off-grid projects will be analyzed. Another session will focus on storage systems and sector coupling.
