5th September | Eindhoven

On September 5th , Anya Heider, fellow at Graduate School of Reiner Lemoine Foundation, will present a paper at the International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and Technologies (SEST). Anya worked on the topic “On the Integration of Electric Vehicles into German Distribution Grids through Smart Charging” together with RLI researchers Birgit Schachler, Kilian Helfenbein and Tim Röpcke and Gabriela Hug, professor of information technology and electrical engineering at ETH Zurich. They investigated the impact of different charging strategies on typical German distribution grids and were able to show that even quite simple strategies can significantly reduce the need for grid expansion.

The fifth edition of this international conference will take place in Eindhoven from September 5th to 7th. There will be discussed solutions to existing challenges in the field of smart energy systems and technologies, which enable more efficient management of energy use and supply. This includes better outage response planning and recovery, as well as integration of technologies such as electric vehicles, renewable energy systems and connected consumer.
