November 22nd – 23rd 2017 | Vienna

Birgit Schachler, researcher in the RLI field Transformation of Energy Systems, is participating in the “6th Network Service Forum Vienna”. As an Invited Speaker, she will give a presentation titled “Local Energy Storages on Distribution Grid Level: Lessons Learned From the Projects Smart Power Flow and open_eGo“ in which she will show recent RLI research results concerning integration of storage units into the electricity system and how they can help to prepare the grids and networks for more renewable sources. The examples in her presentation were collected in the RLI projects Smart Power Flow, in which we analyzed and optimized a  Redox-Flow Storage Unit for grid expansion, and  open_eGo in which a network planning tool for economical flexibility options in grid expansion is being developed.

The Network Service Forum Vienna is titled “What will move the network of the future?” and addresses service providers, network operators, and network service companies in Austria, Germany, and neighboring countries. The current challenges in realizing the Energy Transition will be discussed there from the many different perspectives of involved stakeholders.
