17th June | Online Conference
On June 17, Zakia Soomauroo, Guest Researcher in the research unit Off-Grid Systems at RLI will participate in the online conference Climate Justice of the Green Party’s parliamentary group in the German Bundestag and talk about the needs of the island community for a feminist and just transport system. She will specifically address the local context and the need for the recognition of the importance of how different dimensions interact with decarbonization as a complex multi-scalar issue.
The climate crisis affects everyone, but not everyone equally. Countries that have contributed the least to the climate crisis are the most affected by it. People from affected regions, however, very rarely have their say. The Green parliamentary groupĀ wants to change that with this event and takes the UN climate conference from June 6-16 in Bonn as an opportunity to organize a climate justice conference together with actors from the global south.
In two discussion panels, participants will look ahead to the COP27 world climate conference, which will take place in Egypt in November. In panels and workshops, speakers and participants will discuss various aspects of climate justice and how climate goals can be achieved.
It will be an online conference. Conference language is English. There will be a translation into German for keynotes and panel discussions.
Registration is possible until June 12 2022. More information on the program and registration is available here.
