Final workshop of eGon
2023-06-02 12:10:13
June 2., 2023 | Berlin
The project-team of eGon from the research unit Transformation of Energy Systems at RLI, together with other project partners, will present their research results on the impact of sector coupling on power grids in a final workshop on June 2. The event will take place at the State Representation of Schleswig-Holstein in Berlin and Robert Habeck, Federal Minister of Economics and Climate Protection, will give a welcoming speech.
In various lectures and workshop units, the scientists will present their results from more than three years of work. The increasing coupling of the sectors electricity, gas, heat and transport, in combination with a fluctuating feed-in of electricity from renewable energies, pose new challenges for the power grids. As part of the project, the team investigated impacts of sector coupling on transmission and distribution grids with the goal of developing a transparent grid planning tool across all grid levels. This includes the identification of economically favorable grid expansion scenarios, taking into account various flexibility options such as the use of different storage technologies, demand-side management, and redispatch measures.
All tools and data models are published following open source and open data principles. In four workshop sessions, the researchers will present the data and network planning tools as well as other key findings.
Registration is free of charge until May 15 (by email to egon.workshop@hs-flensburg.de).
