Openmod workshop 2026

The RLI is present at the upcoming Open Energy Modeling Workshop in Freiburg. Over the course of two days, Sarah Berendes, Moritz Schlösser, and Jonas Huber from the Energy Systems Transformation research division, along with Manuel Wahl from the Renewable Energy Mobility team, will present on the RLI’s modeling work and network with other modelers.

Manuel will present findings from the ENETRA project in a lightning talk. In this project, RLI researchers are investigating how inland ports like the BEHALA Westhafen in Berlin, can manage the transition to a sustainable energy system powered by 100% renewable energy.

Sarah will present a poster on the project ResQEnergy in which RLI researchers develop a climate-resilient energy system model for the Science and Technology Park Berlin Adlershof.

The Open Energy Modelling Initiative is a grassroots organization of modelers from various research institutes, universities, and companies.

The openmod workshops offer researchers a forum to discuss how the use of open data and open-source software tools in the field of energy system modeling can be promoted. Topics range from discussions about specific data types – such as sources of open data on building inventories or distribution networks – to advocacy and public relations.
