Setu Pelz, researcher in the RLI Research Unit Off-Grid Systems, will present his opinion of an inclusive planning for a fair energy transition in India’s coal-belt states in a webinar. In addition to the question of how to achieve a just energy system transformation towards a post-coal economy, the seminar will also discuss the current uncertainties in coal mining due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the chances for an energy system transformation resulting from it.
The webinar’s title is “Economic Uncertainties and A Just Transition for India’s Coal Mining Sector”. It is organized as part of a webinar series of the interdisciplinary master’s program “Energy, Resources and Environment (ERE)” at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. The second speaker in the webinar is Srestha Banerjee from the International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology (iFOREST) in New Delhi.
