Quatre-Bornes, Mauritius | Zakia Soomauroo from the RLI Research Unit Off-Grid Systems and Laura Wienpahl, who works in the Research Unit Mobility with Renewable Energy, will travel to Mauritius for one week as part of the research project “Sector analysis for electric mobility in Mauritius: business cases for pilot projects“.
In Mauritius, they will meet Business Mauritius as well as the companies UBP, Velogic, RHT and Mautourco and hold a closing workshop on their study on 14 June. Highlight of the trip will be a presentation and discussion “Electric Mobility in Practice: Solutions for Sustainable Mauritius”. In this presentation, they will showcase their gained insights and results of the project.
This workshop provides an opportunity to discuss the significant future impact of electric mobility – at the global and local levels. It aims to bring together stakeholders from the private and public sectors in Mauritius to get a better understanding on the particularities of electric vehicles, the required charging infrastructure, as well as opportunities for integrating cost-effective renewable energy solutions that are suitable for the Mauritian market. In the project “Sector Analysis for Electric Mobility in Mauritius: Business Cases for Pilot Projects”, RLI analyses potential business models for e-mobility in Mauritius on behalf of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), taking into account models that already exist worldwide. RLI cooperates with six local Mauritian companies and the Business Association of Mauritius.
