Pedro Basanta Franco had been a student assistant in the Research Unit Off-Grid Systems at RLI from May 2022 until October 2022. He was enrolled in the master's program Scientific Computing at Technical University of Berlin. In context of his work for the project E-Land, he analyzed potential decarbonization scenarios and opportunities for local energy production in energy islands (areas with weak or non-existing grid connections).

Pedro holds a bachelor's degree in Energy Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Catalunya. Apart from his work at RLI, he also worked at the Technical University of Berlin as a student assistant for the Sustainable Electric Networks and Sources of Energy (SENSE) department.
