Bashini Mahaarachchi was a student assistant in the Research Unit Mobility with Renewable Energy at RLI from February 2021 until January 2022. She studies for a master's degree in Data Science at the University of Potsdam and she wrote her master’s thesis at RLI. Bashini worked in the project Netz_eLOG and supported the team by conducting analyses on spatial and energy data.

Bashini holds a bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and an Advanced Diploma in Management Accountancy (CIMA-UK). During her master’s studies, she worked on a research project to identify the causes of reduction in airborne NOx and CO2 emissions in Europe during the COVID-19 crisis.

Before joining at RLI, she worked as a data analyst at WAGENER & HERBST Management Consultants GmbH where she gained experience in the fields of transport infrastructure planning and port development strategies.
