Koen Vanacker has been an intern in the research field off-Grid systems at RLI from August 2018 until January 2019. He was enrolled in the European Master in Renewable Energy program at the University of Oldenburg. Koen supported the team by analyzing planned grid extensions and micro grids for rural electrification and evaluated the electro-technical needs. In context of his work at RLI, he wrote his master’s thesis.
Koen holds bachelor ’s degrees in Energy Management from the University-College HOWEST in Kortrijk, Belgium and became interested in rural off-grid systems during an internship in Uganda.
