Former researcher

Info

Christoph Muschner has been a researcher in the Research Unit Transformation of Energy Systems at RLI from September 2020 to June 2024. Before, he had already worked as a student assistant in the same Research Unit. Within the scope of his work at RLI, he completed his master’s thesis on the topic "An Open Source Energy Modelling Framework Comparison of OSeMOSYS and oemof" within the project open_MODEX.

In his master's degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering at KTH - Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, he focused on energy systems optimisation modelling and dynamics of climate policy and transformation processes in energy markets and industries.

In the open_MODEX project, he examined the mathematical foundations of open source energy system modelling frameworks and their impact on modelling results on the example of a multi-node German electricity sector model that he co-developed. Christoph developed and tested Open Source data management tools for energy system modelling within the OpenEnergyFamily framework. In the SEDOS project, he developed the data infrastructure and advises on the licensing of datasets. He contributed to the textual and structural development of the OpenEnergyOntology (OEO). In the project StadtLandEnergie, Christoph took on the role of consortium leader.
