Julius Meier was a student assistant in the Research Unit Transformation of Energy Systems at RLI from October 2020 until the end of October 2021. He supported the team in the UMAS project.

Julius was studying for a Master's degree in Renewable Energy Systems at the Technische Universität Berlin. He previously completed his Bachelor's degree in Energy and Process Engineering there. Julius wrote his Bachelor's thesis entitled "Simulation and exergy analysis of a concentrated solar power plant in Python" at the Department of Energy Engineering and Environmental Protection. Among other things, he developed a new function for exergy analysis for the open-source package TESPy (Thermal Engineering Systems in Python), which is also part of the oemof framework.

Prior to his work at RLI he gained experience in energy management during an internship at ÖKOTEC Energiemanagement GmbH.
