Maik Haas was a student assistant in the RLI Research Unit Off-Grid Systems from February 2019 until December 2019. Prior to this, he completed an internship in the Mobility with Renewable Energy Unit from May to November 2018. He holds a bachelor's degree in Energy and Process Engineering from TU Berlin and was studying for a master's degree in Renewable Energy Systems.
As part of his work in the Off-Grid team, Maik was writing his master's thesis, in which he was working in cooperation with the Sudanese Environment and Natural Resources and Desertification Institute on the solar drying of dates in Sudan. The aim of the work was to develop connections in the value-added chain of date cultivation, to prepare a demand analysis for solar date drying for small farms, and finally to give a recommendation for the use of a low-tech solar dryer.
Maik also worked at the Technical University as a tutor in the Energy Seminar.
