Abstract — The increasing transformation of the energy system with a cross-sectoral coupling of electricity, heat and mobility will pose new, complex challenges for urban distribution grids. As this requires innovative operating and planning concepts, realistic representations of the existing grid structures are needed. Due to the lack of real grid data, grid models that are capable to reproduce the local characteristics can close this gap. In this context, a particular challenge is the strong link of the distribution grid infrastructure to the street topology within urban areas. This thesis deals with a method to generate synthetic urban medium voltage grids.
