Pouya Janghorban was a guest researcher in the Off-Grid Systems research unit at RLI from October to December 2023. He joined RLI already in March 2023 as a student research assistant to collaborate in the PeopleSuN project and write his master’s thesis. Therein he analysed discrete choice experiment data to assess preferences and willingness to pay for electricity connection among SMEs and households across rural and peri-urban Nigeria.

Pouya holds a M.Sc. in “Transition, Innovation and Sustainability Environments” (TISE) granted jointly by University College Dublin and three other European universities under the EU Erasmus Mundus scholarship program. He did his bachelor’s in physics at Sharif University of Technology in Teheran and has previously worked on policy studies for the European Commission during a consulting internship at Technopolis Group Belgium. In his free time, Pouya enjoys hiking, cycling and bouldering.
