Umar Ahmed has been a student assistant in the Research Unit Off-Grid Systems at RLI since November 2020. He is enrolled in the master's degree program Remote Sensing, Geo-information and Visualization at the University of Potsdam. His research interest lies on the impact of climate change in developing countries, applications of machine learning in remote sensing, and renewable energy.

He supports the team with the cataloguing of existing survey datasets, preparation of new enterprise survey, and statistical analysis and econometric modeling of the results of new quantitative surveys. Umar holds a bachelor's degree in Geography from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Apart from his work at RLI, he also contributes to football blogs.
