From February to the end of December 2021 Johanna Schiele was a Guest Researcher in the Research Unit Mobility with Renewable Energy at RLI. She worked on Subsidy Design for green Hydrogen projects.

Johanna studies at the Harvard Kennedy School and worked together with the RLI in the context of the development of a Hydrogen Roadmap for Brandenburg. For her thesis, she is conducting a survey with regional and national stakeholders on risk perception of hydrogen projects and hydrogen market formation.

After various journalism internships in Russia and Germany, Johanna studied economics and philosophy. During her undergrad, she worked as a research assistant to Prof. Cameron Hepburn at the Oxford Martin school. Johanna completed a traineeship with the European Commission (DG Clima). From 2017 to 2019 she worked as Associate at Aurora Energy Research, an electricity market modelling company, on system integration of renewables, with a focus on the German and Polish electricity markets.

When she is not thinking about climate or energy topics, Johanna is likely to be found on her road bike, touring bike, hiking or climbing.
