Global data sets about population distribution and satellite imagery of light at night allow to estimate where non-electrified population lives and distinguish the optimum electrification strategy for each location. Possible options are grid extension, mini-grids and small standalone solutions.

Project duration 01.09.2015 - 31.11.2015
Within this project GIS-based tools are developed to estimate the size of population in on- and off-grid regions of Kenya. Based on these findings different electrification strategies are developed for each location.
