28. February 202327.02. – 03.03. | German-Japanese Energy Transition Council Meeting in Japan
Feburary 27th – March 3rd 2023 Kyoto/Tokyo
The German-Japanese Energy Transition Council (GJETC) will hold a meeting in Tokyo, Japan on March 2nd-3rd. RLI Managing Director Kathrin Goldammer will also travel to Japan for this occasion. She has been a member of the committee since 2022.
As part of the trip, Kathrin will also give presentations at Japanese universities and attend and provide input at Council side events.
The dates at a glance:
February 27th & 28th, Kyoto: Prior to the GJETC meeting, Kathrin will be at Kyoto University and Doshisha University in Kyoto. There she will speak to students in lectures on the European Energy Crisis.
March 1, Tokyo: As a side event, the Japanese-German Energy Partnership Team is organizing the meeting “Women in Leadership in the Energysector”. The event will provide an opportunity for women in the energy sector to exchange ideas. Kathrin will give a keynote speech about her experiences as a woman in a leadership position and answer questions from the audience.
March 2, Tokyo: GJETC Meeting Day – The first face-to-face meeting of Council members since the beginning of the pandemic will focus on discussing current study topics such as decarbonization of the petrochemical industry, carbon-neutral buildings, and waste heat recovery potential, which are the content of two studies.
Council members will also discuss current policy issues and future topics to be addressed in GJETC studies and exchange formats.
March 3, Tokyo: The GJETC Stakeholder Dialogue will focus on policy frameworks that support the transition to a carbon-neutral building sector in Japan and Germany. The event is aimed at industry stakeholders, among others.
In its form and size, the GJETC is the first cooperation project on the energy transition between Japan and Germany. The core work of the Council is to identify new and long-term ways of implementing an ambitious energy transition on the basis of good examples from both countries. To this end, the council maintains a study program on energy transition topics and is in permanent exchange with stakeholders from industry and civil society.
The German-Japanese Energy Transition Council was founded in 2016 and meets twice a year, alternately in Berlin and Tokyo.
