26. – 28.03. | openmod-workshop

March 26th – 28th, 2024 | Grenoble

Martha Hoffmann, member oft he RLS Graduate School at the Reiner Lemoine Foundation, is taking part in the openmod workshop of the Open Energy Modeling Initiative in Grenoble together with Sarah Berendes and Marie-Claire Gering, research assistants from the RLI research area Transformation of Energy Systems.

The three scientists participate in different ways:

  • Martha will give a workshop with the title “How do we get (Energy) Justice into our Models”. The participants will discuss the key question of the workshop, talk about model integration, methods and indicators and develop research ideas together.
  • Sarah will give a keynote speech with the title “Reproducible Data Workflow in Open Energy System Models”. Among other things, she will report on how open data management was further optimized in the SEDOS project.
  • Marie will give a workshop with the title “Addressing different Stakeholders: How do we use energy system modeling and optimization in tools to support regional energy planning?”. The purpose is to share experiences and best practices on using energy system modeling and optimization to address different stakeholders.

The Open Energy Modelling Initiative is a grassroots organization of modellers from various research institutes, universities and companies and has been hosting the workshop for several years now.

The openmod workshops provide a forum for researchers to discuss how the use of open data and open software tools can be promoted in the field of energy system modeling. Topics range from sharing specific types of data, such as sources of open data on building stocks or distribution grids, to advocacy and outreach.
