15.11 | EnergySystemTransition Conference 2023

November 15, 2023 | Berlin

On November 15th, the Reiner Lemoine Foundation will host the EnergySystemTransition Conference entitled “Fit for the Renewable Energy System?”.

The conference follows in the tradition of the Reiner Lemoine Institute’s Energy Dialogue and deals with topics relating to the energy transition in the areas of transformation, mobility, decentralised energy systems and society. One focus will be on identifying and solving current obstacles to the energy transition.

After an introduction, there will be four parallel sessions:

  • Session 1, Presentations on the system perspective | Interactive panel discussion on goals and challenges of the transformation
  • Session 2, Workshop: Fit for the transport transition? | What are the solutions in each of the four mobility transition areas and how can they be accelerated?
  • Sessions 3, Workshop: Societal Dimensions | Discussion of current hurdles and opportunities for the socio-political dimensions of the energy transition.
  • Session 4, Workshop: Energy system transformation = decentralised? | Discussion of (international) examples of decentralised generation and consumption structures.

These will then be summarised in short reports from the contributions and workshops. The event will end with a final discussion on the topic “Are we fit for the new energy system?”.

Together, we will also bid farewell to the first doctoral students of the EnergySystemTransition programme Marlin Arnz, Alexandra Krumm, Anya Heider and Ricardo Reibsch. There will also be information about milestones achieved so far and the next generation of doctoral students Philipp Diesing and Martha Hoffmann.

The conference will take place on 15 November 2023 from 13:00 at the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in the Academy building at Gendarmenmarkt, Markgrafenstraße 38, 10117.
