23th June | Online Event

On June 23, Anne Schalling and Andreas Christidis, researcher in the unit Mobility with Renewable Energies at RLI will present the results of the Potential Study Hydrogen Economy Prignitz-Oberhavel. The final presentation will take place online for the interested professional public of hydrogen use on Thursday, June 23 from 1 – 2.30 pm. The complete study is scheduled to be published in early July.

The goal of the project was to identify regional opportunities for the production, distribution and use of green hydrogen, to identify barriers and opportunities, and to identify specific projects to build a hydrogen economy.

Hydrogen plays a crucial role in the energy transition for the required intermediate storage of energy and the flexibilization of the energy system. This is evident not least in the German National Hydrogen Strategy published in 2020. At the regional level, Brandenburg has also adopted a strategy for the development of a hydrogen economy. The districts of Prignitz, Ostprignitz-Ruppin and Oberhavel have set themselves the goal of supporting the development of a regional hydrogen economy.

For this purpose, RLI scientists prepared a potential study with an implementation concept for the regional hydrogen economy Prignitz-Oberhavel. The study was developed together with the project partners of the consulting company Rebel and the planning community Prignitz-Oberhavel.
The project was funded by the state of Brandenburg and the EU (EFRE); state funding program RENplus 2014 – 2020.
